Semiconductor spin qubits

چکیده
Spin qubits, employing the fundamental quantum property of intrinsic angular momentum individual electrons and nuclei, continue to develop evolve. Lithographically patterned semiconductor chips play host spin-qubit systems in which long coherence times, high-fidelity gates, single-shot measurement are now routine. This review summarizes progress four current qubit types: single spin donor singlet triplet exchange-only qubits. All have been boosted by advances mesoscopic physics. On other hand, all still need address challenges further progress, such as mitigation noise establishment long-distance entanglement.

Meanwhile, a number of algorithms that could be run efficiently on quantum computers, but not on classical computers have been discovered, thereby increasing demand. The challenges are high: computers will need thousands of qubits (the quantum analog of a bit) and computational error rates of at most about one percent to perform effective quantum algorithms — a scaling of several orders of magn...
متن کاملSemiconductor Few-Electron Quantum Dots as Spin Qubits
The spin of an electron placed in a magnetic field provides a natural twolevel system suitable as a qubit in a quantum computer [1]. In this work, we describe the experimental steps we have taken towards using a single electron spin, trapped in a semiconductor quantum dot, as such a spin qubit [2]. The outline is as follows. Section 1 serves as an introduction into quantum computing and quantum...

The goal of this article is to review the progress of three-electron spin qubits from their inception to the state of the art. We direct the main focus towards the exchange-only qubit (Bacon et al 2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 1758–61, DiVincenzo et al 2000 Nature 408 339) and its derived versions, e.g. the resonant exchange (RX) qubit, but we also discuss other qubit implementations using three ele...
متن کاملQUANTUM COMPUTING IN SEMICONDUCTOR STRUCTURES WITH 0.1 μm SEPARATION OF NUCLEAR- SPIN QUBITS
Nuclear-spin qubit interactions in a heterostructure can be mediated via the bound outer electrons of impurity atoms whose nuclear spins 1/2 are the qubits. These outer electrons, in turn, interact via the two-dimensional electron gas in the quantum Hall effect regime. We devised a quantum computing scheme, based on this mechanism, with qubit separation of order 0.1 μm, attainable with the pres...
متن کاملSemiconductor quantum computer design with 100 nm separation of nuclear-spin qubits
We combine elements of the 1998 quantum computing proposals by Privman, Vagner and Kventsel, and by Kane, with the new idea of nuclear-spin qubit interactions mediated indirectly via the bound outer electrons of impurity atoms whose nuclear spins 1/2 are the qubits. These electrons, in turn, interact via the two-dimensional electron gas in the quantum Hall effect regime. The resulting quantum c...
